Puppy World on Facebook

December 18, 2009

Everybody wishes for a new puppy during the holiday season, but now you can truly get your wish.  Just go to http://apps.facebook.com/puppyworldgame and choose a free virtual puppy to start playing and caring for.  Everybody needs a little puppy love!

Marley who?  If I had to cast my vote for the cutest lab in my network of doggies (and trust me, when you sell dog toys, you come across plenty of dogs!), that vote would go to 10 years young Isis.

============= versus ===============

Between the perfect Baroo pose and the pink nose, methinks Isis wins by a landslide.  And for those of you who are not yet versed in the art of the Baroo pose, here’s a little tutorial from youtube:

And while Isis’ good looks could be attributed to her good genes, I have a sneaky suspicion that there could be an extraterrestrial explanation…

Check out those green eyes….I knew it!  Isis is an alien sent from Planet Cutencuddly to dominate over us earthlings.  Look at her – she’s already got this girl’s legs pinned down with her powerful (and yet snuggly soft) head! :)

Thanks for the uber adorable photo, Ann!

Room Candy – always yummy!

Valentine’s Day may be over, but you can still get something super sweet for your four legged sweetie, courtesy of Ottawa Dog Blog.

To celebrate the one year anniversary of her site, Liz Kerrison is giving away a set of 3 Room Candy toys plus your choice of either a mug/clock/bag to a lucky winner.  I’ll have Liz’s dogs show you a couple of the toys up for grabs.

This is Corduroy, a Malshi (gesundheit!) with our chocolate sprinkle-licious donut toy.

And not to be left out, here’s Paddington (Morkie), getting a well deserved white ice cream cone “snack” after burning all those calories doing the down dog pose.

But wait, there’s more!  The Ottawa Dog Blog is not your typical dog blog – it’s really a comprehensive resource for all your doggie needs (e.g. Parks, stores, services) for folks living in the area.  I just wish that Liz could clone herself and do a similar site in Los Angeles.  :)

Thanks for including our toys in your giveaway, Liz!  Happy anniversary, and I’m looking forward to many more!

Heads And Tails

December 27, 2008

Ah, how I love Saturdays.  Perfect time to sleep in, watch cartoons (yes, I still love them!) in the morning and just veg out with the doggies.  Now that Tiki is older (he’s 8 years old), he has his cranky moments and needs his “alone time” away from the boisterous Wally every so often.   Which is why this picture is such a precious moment.

Aww…they do like each other!  I just hope that Tiki doesn’t fart in Wally’s face. :)

Itza A Puppy!

December 14, 2008

I was surfing Youtube the other day and came across this video of a Yorkie puppy called Chewie playing with toys.

Wait a minute – isn’t that….

By golly gee, it’s our Lulu The Lamb toy!  I’m such a dork, I started cheering at the screen when I watched the video.  And not to be left out, there’s our Joey The Monkey toy as well!

When I designed these big head toys, I wanted to make the head ball-like in shape so that they will roll around on the floor.  Looks like mission accomplished!

Cue the obvious pun: I just realized a second ago that the video is about Chewie chewing on plush chew toys. :)  And what a perfect name for this boisterous boy because Chewie is so cute I can just eat him up!

J’adore Bartok

November 10, 2008

Congratulations to Bartok, a tres beau French bulldog owned by Brandon Scott, who won 4th place for pamperedpuppy.com‘s September Dog Photo Contest.  Considering there were 1000 entries, Bartok is indeed top of the pack!

Oh, those eyes are hypnotizing!  And what a sharp dresser with that aqua polo shirt he has on him.

Bartok won five of our knit toys, so plenty to go around and share with his sister, a fellow French/English bulldog named Beaux.

If you’d like to do a cute-off with Bartok, the November Dog Photo Contest is still under way at pamperedpuppy.com – there are five more knit toys up for grabs. :)

Happy Howl-loween!

October 31, 2008

You knew I had to use that pun, right? :)

Here are some pictures that the Turner family sent me of their border collies all dressed up for Halloween.

Bogie as a pirate. Oh, you can tell Bogie knows he’s looking mighty handsome!

Arrrr!!!  Shiver me timbers!

Notice the mock hook on his right paw and the mini parrot on his hat?

Now it’s Bentley’s turn. Can you guess what he’s dressed up as?

Here’s a hint: May the force be with you.

He’s Princess Leia from Star Wars!

Okay, so Bentley is actually a boy, but he doesn’t seem to mind being a girl for a day!  Besides, the point of Halloween is to enjoy dressing up, right?

Bogie’s second costume as a jailbird.

Somebody help me get this ball and chain off! (I wonder if the plush ball squeaks?)

Bogie’s doing time for being too adorable, and I hope the Turners are feeding him nothing but treats while he’s in “jail”!

And my personal favorite for a dog costume this year:

Yo quero taco?  Costume available here.

Under My Bella

September 27, 2008

Got this lovely e-mail from Courtney a few weeks back about her new English Bulldog puppy, Bella:

I just wanted to tell you how much I love your products! We just got a new puppy, and I stocked up on your super cute toys beforehand (the muffin boy is my favorite). Our puppy, Bella, loves them, and so do we! (She loves her Room Candy bed, too!)

Thanks for making such cute things. :)

Courtney & Bella

Ciao Bella! Even at her young age, Bella is already a pro at being a top model.

Wanna take a ride on my bike?

Modeling is hard work! Time for some beauty sleep!

Thanks for sharing these pictures, Courtney! She may be an English Bulldog puppy with an Italian name, but she’s an all American sweetheart!

Oh, Henry!

September 19, 2008

As the owner of two boy maltese dogs, I must admit that I’m quite partial to the breed. That being said, you don’t have to be a maltese lover to gush over the supreme cuteness of Henry, a 1 1/2 year old maltese owned by Liana Aghajanian.

Henry is soooooo cute!! And so deliciously puffy, I can almost smell baby powder just by looking at his picture! If you look him up in the dictionary, he’ll be filed under “U” for Unbelievably Adorable Maltese, or “W” for White Cloudlike Creature With Two Eyes And Nose, or even “Y” for Yes, Folks – He Is Real!

Henry at six weeks old. Just a wee handful of white cotton furball back then!

A dog as special Henry deserves the very best, and you really can’t get any better than Liana who… (I have to number her list of attributes because she has too many!)

1) …is a wickedly talented writer and editor of Los Angeles Cityzine (an e-zine dedicated to everything L.A) as well as her own blog, Write Pudding. It’s just a matter of time before she writes a bestselling book!

2) …is a co-host of a weekly gardening radio show called Edible Gardens. I am so jealous of her green thumb(s) because I can’t even keep cactus plants alive!

3) …is an extraordinary cook/baker. Check out this picture of a perfect mixed berry pie that Liana just happened to throw together on a lazy Sunday. You bet Henry gets to enjoy home cooked meals by Liana every so often.

4) …is the epitome of a young, chic female.

Painting done by Liana. Need I say more?

Here’s Liana describing sweet Henry in her own words:

With his black button nose, polar bear coat and his rambunctious personality, Henry had me at hello. Though he weighs in at just under 6 lbs, he has a big heart and has had an amazingly huge impact on my life. Stealing socks and other various under garments, as well as munching on green bell peppers and blueberries are his favorite past times. When he’s not barking at invisible intruders, fiercely protecting his Room-Candy toys or running laps around the dining room table, Henry can be found on my lap, with his head ducked into my arm, fast asleep. He rarely leaves my side, always following me like a shadow, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. He has enriched my life, made me laugh, licked away my tears, given me his company and taken all my stress away during troubled times.

This summer, it was my turn to return the favor, as Henry underwent surgery to correct a luxating patella in both knees, a condition common in small dogs. His two nights spent at the hospital were the hardest part and although his recovery has been long and possibly more painful on me than him, he is doing quite well.”

Even all bandaged up, Henry still looks like a rock star!

Don’t feel too bad for Henry, as he was/is extremely well taken care of by Liana during his recuperation period. Last time I checked in with Liana, Henry is almost back to his good ol’ self, thanks to the hard work Liana put in with Henry’s physical therapy and a daily dose of TLC.

There is a popular saying about how dogs tend to look like their owners, and even though I believe it’s probably more of an endearing urban legend than reality (if my dogs could talk, they would insist that they look much, much better than me!), I can’t help but wonder when I look at this picture of Liana and her maltese Henry.

Hmm, both sporting great hair? Check. Both wearing white outerwear? Check. Adorable faces? Check! Both equally in love with each other? Big check!! My gosh, in Liana’s case, the saying is true!

Can’t get enough of Henry? You can check out more pictures of this cutie pie on Liana’s flickr photostream and Liana’s blog. Thanks for sharing Henry’s pictures and story with our readers, Liana!

Tatu Bunny

August 26, 2008

I am such a big fan of flickr because I get to meet so many new pet lovers from all over the world. Brida Das Fagas, who hails from Portugal, is one my new flickr photo pals, and her bunny Tatu is just too cute for words!

My, what big ears you have!

Mirror, mirror, on the wall…who’s the fairest bunny in the word? That’ll be you, Tatu!

Tatu is also always up for a chess game…look at him, he really looks like he’s deep in concentration!

I’ve had bunnies when I was little, but none of them were ever this cute and this well behaved! I don’t know what breed of rabbit Tatu is, but looking at his pictures, he looks like he’s easily as big as Tiki. And I just love how Tatu’s ears have a life of their own. Makes me nostalgic about how Wally used to have pointy ears when he was a puppy – see?

Wally – 3 months old.

Tatu relaxing on the floor of the dining/living room. I also have to point out that Brida is a fan of shabby chic, and if you look through her flickr photostream, you’ll also be able to take a tour around her shabby chic-tastic house.

Brida’s dreamy bedroom.

What a fantastic tea set collection!

And why am I not surprised that Brida also has a bunny figurine collection? :)

Hop onto Brida’s photostream to see more pictures of Tatu. Thanks for sharing these pictures with us, Brida!
